Kerala’s back at it again with the latest ‘viral’ stuff in town. Shared as photos and videos across various social media platforms, Fuljar soda is gaining fan following like anything.
It is very common for Keralites to try out local food varieties and delicacies from roadside eateries during Ramadan season. Every year, during the fasting season, some food or the other would be getting famous. If a few years ago, it was Kulukki Sarbath, now it is Fuljar Soda.
A small glass tumbler or a shot glass is filled with the spicy lime mixture. It is then immersed into a huge glass of soda. Which then fizzes up and tastes best when consumed immediately.
Special Fuljar Soda costs between ₹15- ₹30 in most shops and is in popular demand. People stand in long queues for hours just to taste this speciality.
Mint leaves, ginger, bird’s eye chilli, curry leaves, basil seeds (sabja seeds), cinnamon, lime juice, sarsaparilla, honey, salt, and sugar syrup are the main ingredients of the special lime mixture that creates the strong flavour.
