The next public holiday will fall on the occasion of Islamic New Year, Hijri. As the date is subject to the sighting of the moon, we won’t know until nearer the time the exact date, but it’s expected to be Saturday, August 31.

While we typically get one day off for this public holiday in the UAE, we won’t know until nearer the time if we’ll be given Sunday September 1 off, or if it will be a regular Friday, Saturday weekend.

After that, we still have a long weekend at the end of the year that will combine Commemoration Day on December 1 and UAE National Day, which will be celebrated on December 2 and 3 this year.

In March 2019 the UAE government outlined the full list of public holidays for 2019 and 2020 – with two previously recognised public holidays absent.
