Throughout the month of May, the operator of one of the UAE’s newest water-based amusement parks will be slashing its entry prices to just Dh1.
The special rate that will run across the month of Ramadan will apply to accompanying children of residents and tourists who are planning to visit the Laguna Waterpark, located at the recently developed beachfront destination, La Mer, on Jumeirah 1 beach.
Named Laguna Waterpark, there are some great rides and activities promised at the new attraction. The beachfront site reportedly took two and a half years to build.
Here’s what to expect, along with pictures from our sneak peek. The park will include zones for surfing, lazy lounging (on and off the water), kids’ zones and slides, and dining.
Surfing for all levels – WaveOz 180
Show off your surf skills on Wave Oz 180, considered to be one of the only three of its kind in the world. It is suited for beginners, surf hobbyists and pros.
Free fall
A water park or theme park without a heart-dropping ride is really not worth visiting a second time. Laguna visitors with a taste for thrill can try the Free Fall, a slide that will hopefully make you question your sanity as your free fall into the splash lane far below.
Lazy lounging
For those who prefer to stay out of the action or take a break, cabanas are your place to be. Cosy and shaded, these offer a good view overlooking the ocean.
For lazy lounging on the water, try the Lazy River ride to just float along on your tube. There is also an infinity pool and lounge area.
For the tots
Aqua Play and Splash Pad are aimed at the younger guests at the park, with rides suited for toddlers as well.
Manta
The ride we’re most looking forward to is the Manta. Showcasing all the elements of a classic water slide, the ride has slide twists, turns with a final short fall into the pool.
Dining
You can dine at the main restaurant at the park, or try out the surf club. For amazing views as you dine, try the rooftop balcony.
