Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum has announced the launch of a new Dh1 billion International Space Cooperation Programme aimed at strengthening the UAE’s position as a global leader in space research, innovation, and advanced technology.

The initiative was unveiled during a high-level meeting chaired by Sheikh Hamdan in his capacity as Chairman of the Supreme Space Council. The programme is designed to support international partnerships in the space sector, accelerate scientific research, and promote the development of cutting-edge technologies within the UAE.

A key focus of the initiative will be empowering Emirati talent and creating opportunities for young professionals and researchers to contribute to the future of the global space industry.

Speaking about the launch, Sheikh Hamdan described the space sector as one of the UAE’s most important strategic priorities, highlighting its role in building a future economy driven by knowledge, science, and innovation.

He said the UAE takes pride in its achievements in space exploration and remains committed to inspiring future generations to transform ambition into accomplishments that benefit humanity both on Earth and beyond.

The programme also reflects the UAE’s long-term vision to expand international cooperation in science and technology while further enhancing its global competitiveness in advanced industries.

The UAE has emerged as a major player in the international space sector in recent years through projects including the Emirates Mars Mission and astronaut programmes led by Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre.
