Google has rolled out a new update to its AI chatbot Gemini, making it more practical for everyday use. The latest feature allows users to generate and download files directly from the prompt bar, eliminating the need for manual copying and formatting.
With a simple command—such as creating a budget—users can now export content in multiple formats, including PDF, TXT, RTF, and CSV. The tool also supports integration with Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides. In addition, Gemini can produce Microsoft Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, Markdown files, and LaTeX documents.
The inclusion of LaTeX is particularly significant, as it is widely used for formatting scientific papers and academic journals. Google’s move comes at a time when interest in LaTeX tools is growing, especially after Prism was introduced to simplify scientific document creation. Gemini’s ability to generate diagrams within LaTeX could be especially useful for students and professionals in STEM fields.
According to Google, the update is designed to streamline workflows by allowing users to easily transfer content across different applications without extra steps. The feature is being rolled out globally to all Gemini users, including those with individual Workspace accounts.
While competitors like Claude have already offered similar file generation capabilities, this update marks a significant step forward for Gemini users, enhancing both convenience and productivity.
