Apple has officially expanded the availability of its Apple Sports app to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and dozens of additional countries as part of one of the platform’s biggest international rollouts since launch.
The free iPhone app, designed to deliver real-time sports scores, statistics, match updates, and live game information, is now available across 170 countries worldwide.
Alongside the UAE and Saudi Arabia, the latest expansion also includes countries such as Australia, Japan, India, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, South Africa, and several other markets across the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, and Africa regions.
Real-time scores and live sports updates on iPhone
The Apple Sports app allows users to follow live scores, match statistics, standings, schedules, and upcoming fixtures directly from their iPhones.
Apple says the app also supports Live Activities on the iPhone lock screen, allowing fans to receive real-time sports updates without opening the app itself.
The platform is available as a free download through the App Store and works on iPhones running iOS 17.2 or later with internet access enabled.
New features arrive ahead of the FIFA World Cup
Apple also announced updates to the app ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup, aiming to help football fans follow the tournament more easily.
New features include:
- Tournament bracket views
- Scrollable match and results tracking
- Enhanced visual line-up displays showing starting players
- Quick access to related sports news and match coverage
Apple says football fans can also jump directly from the Sports app into the Apple TV app to connect with streaming services broadcasting live matches.
However, Apple News integration within the app currently remains limited to users in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
App supports major global sports leagues
Apple Sports currently supports a wide range of international sports competitions and leagues, including:
- UEFA Champions League
- Formula One World Championship
- Major League Baseball
- WNBA
- Argentine Liga Profesional and several other football competitions
The app first launched in 2024 and was initially available only in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada before Apple began its wider international expansion.
Oliver Schusser said the platform was designed to provide sports fans with a fast and simple way to stay updated on scores, statistics, and live action in real time.
