According to fresh industry rumours, Apple is preparing several major upgrades for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, expected to launch this September alongside the company’s anticipated foldable iPhone Ultra.

One of the biggest design changes could be a smaller Dynamic Island. Reports suggest that some Face ID components may move under the display, allowing Apple to reduce the size of the screen cutout and offer a cleaner viewing experience. The company is also said to be refining the phone’s rear design after mixed reactions to the iPhone 17 Pro’s two-tone finish, with a more seamless blend of aluminum and glass expected this time.

Apple may also introduce bold new colour options for the Pro lineup. Early leaks indicate that a new “Dark Cherry” shade could become the standout finish for the series.

Camera improvements are expected to remain a major focus. The iPhone 18 Pro is rumoured to feature a variable aperture main camera, allowing users to manually adjust depth-of-field for more professional-looking photos. The telephoto camera is also expected to receive enhancements, including a wider aperture for improved low-light performance.

Battery life could see another boost as well. After introducing larger batteries in the iPhone 17 Pro lineup, Apple is reportedly increasing capacity further in the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Leaks suggest the device may become slightly thicker and heavier to accommodate the bigger battery, with both Pro models likely to benefit from improved endurance.

Apple is also expected to simplify the Camera Control button introduced in earlier models. Reports indicate the company may remove some of the touch-sensitive features that users found overly complicated, replacing them with a more straightforward design.

Another notable upgrade could be the arrival of Apple’s next-generation C2 modem. Following the debut of the C1 modem in the iPhone 16e and the C1X in the iPhone Air, the new modem is expected to deliver better power efficiency and improved battery performance compared to current Qualcomm alternatives.

While the official launch is still months away, early reports suggest the iPhone 18 Pro series could focus heavily on the features users value most — improved cameras, stronger battery life, and smoother overall performance.
