Gold 101.3 FM, UAE’s No.1 Malayalam radio station, reports that Apple has introduced a new subscription option for App Store developers aimed at making digital services more affordable for users while providing more predictable revenue for developers.

The new system allows developers to offer monthly payments under a 12-month commitment plan. This means users can pay on a monthly basis but agree to stay subscribed for a full year, often in exchange for a discounted overall price compared to standard monthly subscriptions.

According to Apple, users will still be allowed to cancel at any time, but the subscription will remain active until the end of the 12-month payment commitment. The company says this approach is designed to balance flexibility for users with long-term stability for developers.

Apple also stated that the new model will be supported with clearer guidelines to ensure subscription pricing and terms are transparent, helping users understand the total cost and conditions before subscribing.

The feature will be available globally for developers, with the exception of the United States and Singapore. It will require users to have updated operating systems, including iOS 26.4, iPadOS 26.4, macOS Tahoe 26.4, tvOS 26.4, or visionOS 26.4 and later.

Under the system, users will be able to view payment schedules, track progress toward completing their commitment, and receive reminders about upcoming renewals. While the model offers lower pricing options, it may also encourage longer-term subscriptions and reduce short-term cancellations.

The move is part of Apple’s broader strategy to strengthen its subscription ecosystem. In recent years, the company has increasingly focused on recurring payment models, including changes to services like AppleCare and other digital offerings, emphasizing long-term user engagement across its platforms.
