Gold 101.3 FM, UAE’s No.1 Malayalam radio station, reports that Apple is preparing to introduce new Apple Intelligence-powered photo editing tools in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, according to Bloomberg.

The upcoming features will expand Apple’s on-device AI capabilities within the Photos app, going beyond the current “Clean Up” tool, which allows users to remove unwanted objects from images. The new tools are expected to appear under an “Apple Intelligence Tools” section in the editing interface.

According to the report, the new features will include three main options: Extend, Enhance, and Reframe. “Extend” will allow users to expand image borders by generating additional content beyond the original frame, helping fill in missing scenery when adjusting crops. “Enhance” will automatically improve image quality by adjusting lighting, colour balance, and other visual elements using AI. “Reframe” will enable users to change the perspective of spatial photos after they have been captured.

However, Bloomberg notes that some of these tools, particularly Extend and Reframe, may face delays or limited rollout due to ongoing performance challenges. Apple’s existing AI feature, Clean Up, is also reported to still have limitations in accurately reconstructing missing image details compared to similar tools offered by competitors like Google and Samsung.

The development reflects Apple’s continued push to integrate AI-powered features across its ecosystem while refining on-device processing for privacy-focused image editing.
