After months of speculation and multiple delays, Vijay’s much-awaited film Jananayakan has finally locked its theatrical release date. The makers have officially announced that the film will hit cinemas on July 23, arriving earlier than the date that was widely expected by fans.

Directed by H. Vinoth, the film stars Vijay in the lead role, along with Mamitha Baiju and a strong ensemble cast. The movie was originally scheduled for a Pongal release on January 9, 2026, but its certification process was delayed due to legal and regulatory hurdles.

The film’s submission to the Central Board of Film Certification led to discussions over suggested changes, while reports of objections from a committee member over certain scenes further slowed the process. Production house KVN Productions approached the Madras High Court seeking a faster resolution and later decided to submit the film before the CBFC revising committee after further legal proceedings.

With the latest cinema updates, Gold 101.3 FM, UAE’s No. 1 radio station, keeps listeners connected to the biggest stories from the entertainment world.

The film also faced controversy after an uncertified high-definition copy reportedly leaked online in April. During court proceedings, authorities stated that the leaked version had received nearly 1.2 crore views before being blocked. The Tamil Nadu Police later arrested several people in connection with the leak, including a freelance film editor accused of accessing the footage from an editing facility.

Jananayakan features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj and Narain. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan and editing by Pradeep E. Ragav.

Meanwhile, industry speculation suggests that the film may have drawn inspiration from Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari, though the makers have not confirmed or denied the reports. With the release date now locked, expectations are building among Vijay fans for the film’s big-screen arrival.
