Saif Ali Khan’s visually challenged character in ‘Haiwaan’ teaser sparks curiosity

Priyadarshan’s upcoming film ‘Haiwaan’, which brings Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan together once again, is gearing up for a September release. The makers have now unveiled the teaser, offering a first look at Saif’s character, who is visually challenged.

The reveal has added to the curiosity around the film, which is reportedly a Hindi remake of Priyadarshan’s 2016 Malayalam hit ‘Oppam’. If so, Saif’s role is the Hindi counterpart of the visually impaired character played by Mohanlal in the original.

The teaser opens with Saif’s character seated inside a room, establishing that he cannot see. Akshay Kumar then makes a striking entry and appears to keep a close watch on him. The teaser ends on a suspenseful note with the line, “He hears the danger. I am the danger. Ab jeet kiski hogi? Hero ya Haiwaan?”

The teaser has already sparked interest among fans, particularly because of the reunion of the popular Akshay-Saif pairing. The two actors have previously shared the screen in films including ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’, ‘Yeh Dillagi’, ‘Aarzoo’, ‘Tu Chor Main Sipahi’ and ‘Keemat’. Their last collaboration was the 2008 action film ‘Tashan’, which also featured Kareena Kapoor Khan and Anil Kapoor.

Akshay shared the ‘Haiwaan’ teaser on Instagram on Wednesday. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on September 11 and is produced by Venkat K Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn.

The cast also includes Saiyami Kher, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Boman Irani in key roles. ‘Haiwaan’ marks another collaboration between Akshay and Priyadarshan following ‘Bhooth Bangla’. Akshay is also set to feature in ‘Welcome to the Jungle’.

Saif Ali Khan, meanwhile, was recently seen in ‘Kartavya’, where he played Inspector Pawan Malik alongside Rasika Dugal and Sanjay Mishra.

With its teaser combining mystery, action and the return of the Akshay-Saif duo, ‘Haiwaan’ has now set the stage for its September 11 theatrical release.
