July 2026 brings a series of major transitions across the UAE, covering transport, education, business compliance, public services and lifestyle changes that will impact residents, expatriates and companies.
One of the biggest developments is the launch of Etihad Rail’s passenger service, which officially began phased operations after its first journey on June 30. From July, passengers can book tickets for the Abu Dhabi–Fujairah route via the official website and mobile app, with strong early demand already reported. The national rail network will expand in phases, with Dubai and Al Dhaid stations opening by September 2026, Al Dhafra by December 2026, and full completion including Sharjah expected by March 2027.
Gold 101.3 FM – UAE’s No. 1 radio station – continues to bring residents the latest updates on major national developments, travel, business and lifestyle changes across the UAE.
For the Indian expatriate community, significant changes have come into effect with revised passport and consular service fees, following India’s updated global fee structure. Fresh and reissued passport charges have increased, with a 36-page adult passport now costing Dh450 and a 60-page passport Dh630, while Tatkal and replacement services have also seen higher revisions. At the same time, a new unified system, the Indian Consular Application Centres (ICAC), has been launched, with Alhind Tours and Travels LLC taking over passport, visa and attestation services.
In the education sector, UAE schools will begin their summer holidays from July 3, 2026, marking an eight-week break before the new academic year starts on August 31, 2026.
Sharjah residents will also see changes in public parking regulations, with paid parking hours extended until midnight across the emirate, including Sharjah City, Kalba, Khorfakkan and Al Dhaid. Fridays and public holidays will remain free, except in designated 7-day paid zones.
On the lifestyle front, Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) 2026 returns from July 2 to August 30, transforming the city into a major summer entertainment and shopping destination under the theme “Make it a Dubai Summer.”
Finally, businesses across the UAE must comply with the first phase of the mandatory e-invoicing system, requiring companies to appoint an Accredited Service Provider (ASP) from July 1. The move marks a key step toward full digital tax compliance, changing how transactions are recorded and reported across the corporate sector.
Together, these updates make July one of the most significant months of the year for residents, businesses and visitors across the UAE.
