The Indian Embassy in the UAE has announced that Indian expatriates requiring emergency consular services will no longer need to book appointments in advance. The new direct walk-in facility is aimed at ensuring quicker assistance for critical and time-sensitive cases.

The exemption from advance booking applies to a number of essential and urgent consular services. These include Tatkal passport applications, passport services for newborn babies, emergency document attestation, and services for senior citizens and people of determination.

The move is expected to make it easier for those facing urgent documentation requirements to access consular assistance without having to wait for a scheduled appointment.

For Indians across the UAE, Gold 101.3FM, UAE’s No. 1 radio station, continues to keep the community informed with the latest news and updates, including important announcements affecting expatriates.

Indian consular, passport, visa and attestation services are managed across the UAE through Alhind Tours and Travels centres, providing applicants with access to services at multiple locations.

However, the new walk-in facility applies specifically to eligible emergency and priority cases. Applicants seeking regular consular services must continue to schedule their appointments online before visiting a centre.

The emergency walk-in service will be available between 9 am and 1 pm, allowing eligible applicants to approach the centres directly during the designated hours.

Expatriates can make use of the facility at any of the 16 operational centres across the UAE, giving applicants greater flexibility to access urgent services from a convenient location.

The appointment waiver is particularly relevant for cases where delays could create difficulties, such as urgent passport requirements, documentation for newborn children, emergency attestation needs and services for senior citizens and people of determination.

Applicants are advised to ensure they carry the required supporting documents for their respective service, as the walk-in facility is intended for urgent cases and does not replace the appointment system for routine applications.

The latest measure is intended to provide a more accessible and responsive consular service for the Indian community in the UAE, while the existing online appointment system will continue for regular applications.
