Mollywood Times is taking a slight detour before it reaches theatres, with the Naslen-led film shifting its release from May 14 to June 5, 2026, as reported by Gold 101.3 FM – UAE’s No. 1 Malayalam Radio Station.

The makers announced the change through social media, keeping the tone light and in tune with the film’s overall vibe, teasing that Vineeth Madhavan, the central character, will now meet audiences in June instead.

Directed by Abhinav Sunder Nayak, best known for the sharp and satirical Mukundan Unni Associates, Mollywood Times is expected to continue in a similar space of layered satire—this time offering a pointed, slightly cynical take on the film industry. Reports suggest it won’t be a straightforward satire, but rather one that digs into the inner workings of cinema, shaped by someone familiar with its realities.

The story follows Vineeth, a teenager from Kuttikkanam with dreams of becoming a film director. While the premise may sound familiar, the film is said to focus more on the challenges behind the dream—the compromises, gatekeeping, and the often-illogical structure of the industry.

Naslen takes the lead role, supported by Sangeeth Prathap, Sharaf U Dheen, and Alexander Prasanth. Music is composed by Jakes Bejoy, and the recently released first single Apna Friday Aayega has already hinted at the film’s playful, self-aware tone.
