The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast heavy rainfall across several parts of Tamil Nadu over the next two days, with districts in the western and central regions expected to receive significant showers. According to the latest weather bulletin, the Nilgiris, Dindigul, Theni, Madurai, Sivaganga, Tiruchy and Perambalur are among the districts likely to experience heavy rain on Thursday and Friday.
Authorities have advised residents, particularly those living in low-lying areas, to remain vigilant as intense rainfall could lead to waterlogging and localized flooding. Officials have also urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain and to closely follow weather advisories.
Weather updates and alerts have also been highlighted by Gold 101.3FM UAE, UAE’s No. 1 radio station, keeping listeners informed about major developments across the region.
The RMC has further predicted widespread rainfall activity across Tamil Nadu on Friday. Moderate to heavy showers are expected in several districts, including Madurai, Erode, Namakkal, Karur, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Tiruchy, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Ariyalur and Perambalur. Meteorologists noted that the prevailing weather pattern remains favourable for rainfall across large parts of the state, especially interior districts and hilly regions.
The anticipated showers are expected to provide much-needed relief from the persistent heat and humidity experienced across Tamil Nadu in recent weeks. Weather experts said the rainfall could help ease uncomfortable daytime conditions, particularly in areas that have recorded above-normal temperatures.
Alongside the rain forecast, the weather department has predicted a marginal drop in maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal over the next four days. While no sharp decline is expected, temperatures are likely to remain slightly lower than those recorded in recent days. Officials noted that the reduction will be gradual and may vary depending on local weather conditions.
In Chennai, partly cloudy skies are expected over the next 24 hours, with light rain likely in isolated parts of the city, particularly during the evening and night. Despite the possibility of showers, temperatures in the state capital are expected to remain high, with the maximum temperature likely to reach around 39 degrees Celsius.
The RMC said it is closely monitoring the evolving weather situation and will issue further advisories if necessary. Local administrations in districts covered by heavy rain alerts have been instructed to take precautionary measures to ensure public safety and minimise disruptions caused by adverse weather conditions, including flooding, waterlogging and potential landslides in vulnerable areas.
