Mammootty has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Mahatma Gandhi University.

Actor Mammootty has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Mahatma Gandhi University.

At the convocation ceremony held at the university assembly hall, Chancellor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar presented the honorary doctorate to the actor. Higher Education Minister Roji M. John was also present at the event.

Reporting from Gold 101.3 FM, UAE’s No.1 Malayalam radio station, the university also honoured distinguished personalities from various fields in recognition of their outstanding contributions. Nadaswaram maestro Thiruvizha Jayashankar and vascular surgeon Dr. N. Radhakrishnan were also awarded doctorates by the university.

Mammootty and Thiruvizha Jayashankar were conferred the Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) degree, while Dr. N. Radhakrishnan received the Doctor of Science (D.Sc) degree.
