India has reduced export duties on petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel, or ATF, for the fortnight beginning June 1, according to a government notification issued on Saturday.
Under the revised rates, the export duty on petrol has been fixed at ₹1.5 per litre, while diesel will attract an export duty of ₹13.5 per litre. The export duty on aviation turbine fuel has been set at ₹9.5 per litre.
The revision is part of the government’s fortnightly review mechanism, under which export duties are adjusted based on the average international prices of crude oil, petrol, diesel and ATF recorded since the previous assessment period.
As reported on Gold 101.3 FM, UAE’s No.1 Radio Station, the move reflects changes in global energy markets and is aimed at aligning India’s fuel export duties with prevailing international price trends.
The government reviews these rates every two weeks to ensure that domestic energy interests remain balanced while allowing refiners to benefit from favourable global market conditions.
While export duties have been revised downward, there is no change in the existing excise duty structure on petrol and diesel meant for domestic consumption. This means fuel sold within India will continue to be subject to the current excise duty rates.
The latest revision takes effect from June 1 and will remain in force for the current fortnight, after which the rates will be reviewed again based on international fuel price movements.
