All water-based activities, including boating, kayaking, rafting and coracle rides, along with adventure tourism activities such as trekking and jeep safaris, are prohibited on Orange and Red alert days. Mining operations, except those essential for disaster management, are also banned. Large-scale construction and multi-storey building works must remain suspended during these alert periods.
Authorities have strictly prohibited crossing rivers, bathing, swimming and fishing in rivers and other water bodies during heavy rainfall. Residents are advised to avoid riverbanks and minimise travel along high-range hill roads.
Officials have been instructed to monitor river water levels continuously and ensure the safety of people living downstream of dams. District- and taluk-level Incident Response Systems have been activated, while emergency response teams from the Health Department, Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) and Public Works Department (PWD) remain on standby.
The District Collector has further emphasised that landslide- and landslip-prone areas must implement precautionary measures equivalent to those prescribed under a Red Alert, despite the district being under an Orange Alert.
Residents are urged to follow official advisories, cooperate with authorities and prioritise safety throughout the period of heavy rainfall.
