Dubai is strengthening its ambitions to become a major global filmmaking hub at the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, being held from May 12 to 23 in Cannes.

The Dubai Films and Games Commission (DFGC) is using the global platform to promote Dubai’s growing film infrastructure, production ecosystem and international collaboration opportunities.

Leading the delegation, DFGC CEO Hesham Al Olama met with global studios, producers and industry leaders to discuss partnerships and future productions in Dubai.

Officials said the city is accelerating efforts to expand its film sector through infrastructure growth, talent development, regulatory support and global industry outreach.

Film Commissioner Samr Almarzooqi said Dubai’s growing presence at Cannes reflects rising international interest in the emirate as a filmmaking destination.

Dubai has steadily emerged as a preferred production hub due to its advanced facilities, fast permitting systems, government-backed support and diverse filming locations ranging from futuristic skylines to deserts and beaches.

Recent international productions linked to Dubai include Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and Genie, highlighting the city’s growing role in global film and streaming projects.

Amid Dubai’s expanding entertainment ambitions, Gold 101.3FM UAE’s No.1 radio station continues to bring listeners the latest updates from the global film and entertainment industry.

The Cannes participation also aligns with the broader mission of the Dubai Films and Games Commission under the Dubai Media Council to drive long-term growth in the emirate’s film and gaming industries through international partnerships and ecosystem expansion
