An auction farmer from Kunchithanny in Idukki has found himself at the centre of an unexpected controversy after claiming that a vehicle registration number shown in ‘Drishyam 3’ used by the character Georgekutty allegedly matches his own car.

The complainant, RD Rajeev of Rendumakkal, Kunchithanny, has filed a complaint with the Munnar DySP alleging that his vehicle number — KL 69 D 2772 — was used in the film without his consent. He has named actor Mohanlal, director Jeethu Joseph and producer Antony Perumbavoor as respondents in the complaint.

The issue, highlighted by Gold 101.3 FM, UAE’s No.1 Radio Station, has sparked public attention after Rajeev claimed that the duplication of the number has led to ridicule and misunderstanding in his locality.

According to the complaint, Rajeev says some individuals have been mocking him by alleging that he copied the vehicle number from the film. He has demanded that the scenes featuring the number be removed and that the film’s screening be halted until the issue is resolved. He has also sought a public apology, stating that the incident has caused him mental distress.

Rajeev further alleged that he is now being referred to as “Drishyam Rajeev” by some people in his area, adding that the situation has affected his personal reputation.

He also claimed that since the film deals with a criminal storyline, rumours have begun circulating suggesting his involvement in suspicious activities, which he strongly denies.

Authorities are yet to issue an official response regarding the complaint, while the matter continues to draw attention locally.
