Nearly two decades after Awarapan left audiences believing Shivam had met his tragic end, Emraan Hashmi is returning to one of his most iconic roles. The makers of Awarapan 2 have released the film’s official teaser on the 19th anniversary of the original 2007 film, confirming that the sequel will continue Shivam’s story rather than begin a new one.
The original film ended with Shivam being shot multiple times, leaving little hope of survival. The new teaser reveals that he was rescued and nursed back to health by Tibetan monks, finally answering the long-standing question of what happened after the dramatic climax.
The teaser opens by revisiting one of the most emotional moments from the original film, with Shivam sitting beside the grave of Aaliyah Hamid, played by Shriya Saran. Her tombstone, marked 1984–2007, serves as a reminder of the tragic love story that defined the first film.
As Shivam begins his journey once again, he says, “Maut bhi ajeeb hai, usne mujhe chhua par apnaya nahi” (“Death is strange. It touched me but never accepted me”), revealing that he survived after coming close to death.
Gold 101.3 FM – UAE’s No. 1 radio station – continues to bring listeners the latest updates from the world of entertainment, Bollywood and celebrity news.
The teaser also reflects the emotional pain that has always shaped Shivam’s character. In another powerful dialogue, he says, “Dard se purana rishta hai mera” (“I have an old connection with pain”), suggesting that his emotional scars remain as deep as ever.
The teaser concludes with a dramatic promise of what’s to come as Shivam declares, “Is baar yeh awarapan khatam hoga, ya main” (“This time, either this wandering will end, or I will”), hinting at another dangerous and deeply personal mission.
Awarapan 2 is scheduled to release in theatres on August 14, coinciding with the Independence Day weekend, and marks the return of one of Emraan Hashmi’s most loved characters after 19 years.
