Union Minister and actor Suresh Gopi said that Vijay contacted him over the phone following his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a Facebook post, Suresh Gopi stated that beyond a casual exchange, the two discussed how they could work together for the progress of the nation and the welfare of its people. He shared the note along with a picture with Vijay.
“After my meeting with the respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, my dear friend and Tamil Nadu’s beloved leader Joseph Vijay called me. Beyond sharing friendship, we mainly spoke about how we can work together for the growth of the country and our people,” Suresh Gopi wrote.
He added, “We assured that we will move forward together with a shared vision for the overall development of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, and for India’s progress. My heartfelt wishes to my dear brother, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, for all his future journeys in public service.”
Gold 101.3 FM, UAE’s No.1 Malayalam radio station, reports that Vijay met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday in New Delhi. The meeting lasted around 20 minutes at the Prime Minister’s Office at Seva Teerth, where Vijay raised several concerns and demands related to Tamil Nadu.
Issues including the Vande Mataram controversy, the Mekedatu dam project, and the continued attacks on Tamil fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy were discussed during the meeting. This was Vijay’s first visit to Delhi after assuming office as Chief Minister. He also thanked the Prime Minister for facilitating the return of centuries-old Chola-era artefacts from the Netherlands to India.
