Veteran actor Indrans, who earned appreciation from Tamil audiences for his emotional performance in the film Karuppu starring Suriya, has revealed in a recent interview that he still does not know how to use Google Pay in real life.
The actor said that a dialogue from Karuppu, in which his character mentions not knowing how to use Google Pay, closely mirrors his real-life experience. Speaking to the YouTube channel Cineulagam, Indrans candidly admitted, “Even now, I don’t know how to use Google Pay. Honestly, I don’t. I bought a smartphone only recently.”
As reported on Gold 101.3 FM, UAE’s No.1 Radio Station, Indrans also shared how veteran actor Mammootty played a key role in his decision to finally start using a smartphone.
He recalled an incident in which Mammootty contacted him regarding a matter and found that Indrans usually routed all communication through his son. “I used to give everyone my son’s number and he would handle messages for me. Mammootty sir asked my son to hand over the phone to me and said, ‘If I want to tell you something confidential, can I tell it through him?’ He then asked why I never answered my own phone. That is how I ended up buying a smartphone,” Indrans said, adding that he still struggles to use it effectively.
Meanwhile, Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji and starring Suriya in the lead, continues its strong box office run. The film’s producers, Dream Warrior Pictures, recently confirmed that the movie has crossed the ₹300 crore mark worldwide and released a special poster to celebrate the milestone.
The film is currently the highest-grossing Tamil release of the year and marks the first time a Suriya-starrer has entered the ₹300-crore club. It has also been performing well in Kerala markets.
The fantasy action drama revolves around Vettakkaruppu, a guardian deity who takes human form as a lawyer to fight corruption within a legal system that exploits a young girl in need of a liver transplant.
The film features a strong ensemble cast including Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Shivada, and Supreeth Reddy in key roles, and has been receiving continued attention for both its emotional storytelling and social theme.
