The makers of ‘Dhoomakethu’, starring Sajin Gopu and Nikhila Vimal, have officially announced that the film will hit theatres on September 11. The release date was unveiled on Sunday through social media along with a brand-new poster and a promotional video, building anticipation for the upcoming Malayalam film.
The newly released poster offers a completely different mood from the film’s first look. While the earlier poster showed the lead pair locked in an intense underwater struggle, the latest artwork features Sajin Gopu and Nikhila Vimal sitting peacefully beside a river under a star-lit sky. However, the calm setting carries an unsettling twist, with four masked figures holding bats standing silently behind them, hinting at mystery and impending danger. Despite the intriguing visuals, the makers continue to keep the film’s storyline and genre tightly under wraps.

‘Dhoomakethu’ is directed by Sudhi Maddison, who made his directorial debut with the film ‘Neymar’. The movie completed shooting in February 2026, after going on floors in December last year. The screenplay has been penned by Sonny and Manu.
Apart from the lead pair, the film features Shine Tom Chacko, Siddharth Bharathan, and Ganapathi in pivotal roles. The technical team includes Jinto George as cinematographer, Chaman Chakko as editor, and Justin Varghese, who has composed the film’s music.
The film is jointly produced by Sameer Thahir, Shyju Khalid, Sajin Ali, and Abbas Thirunavaya under the banners of Happy Hours Entertainments and A & HS Production House. With its mysterious promotional campaign and striking visuals, Dhoomakethu is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Malayalam releases of the year.
