The much-awaited trailer of Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’, originally scheduled for a global launch on July 24, has been postponed just hours before its release. Producer Namit Malhotra clarified that the delay is not due to production or creative issues but follows a major international distribution partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Malhotra said the collaboration will help position ‘Ramayana’ as a global cinematic event, with the trailer now set to be launched as part of the film’s worldwide rollout strategy. He described the partnership as a landmark moment for Indian cinema, saying it would introduce the country’s rich culture and storytelling to audiences across the world on the scale of a major Hollywood release.

Gold 101.3FM, the UAE’s No. 1 radio station, reports that while a new trailer launch date has not been announced, excitement around the film remains high. The postponement comes days after the cast and crew attended a private trailer screening in Delhi, while the film also made a strong impression at San Diego Comic-Con, where director Nitesh Tiwari, producer Namit Malhotra and lead actors Ranbir Kapoor and Yash spoke about the scale and vision of the project.

The two-part adaptation is reportedly being made on a combined budget of around 500 million US dollars, or more than Rs 4,000 crore, making it one of the most expensive films ever produced. Another major highlight is its music, with Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer collaborating with AR Rahman for the first time on the soundtrack.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, ‘Ramayana’ stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The ensemble cast also includes Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Vivek Oberoi and Kunal Kapoor. The first instalment is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release ahead of Diwali 2026, with the second part set to arrive during Diwali 2027.
