Malayalam superstar Mohanlal was spotted in Kansas City, USA, enjoying the FIFA World Cup quarter-final between Argentina and Switzerland, continuing his tradition of attending some of football’s biggest matches.
A passionate football fan, Mohanlal had travelled to Brazil in 2014 to watch the World Cup final where Germany defeated Argentina, and was also in Qatar in 2022 to witness Argentina’s dramatic penalty shootout victory over France. This year, he was seen at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in his signature upward-twirled moustache look.
Gold 101.3FM UAE’s No.1 radio station reports that former actor and Kerala Transport Minister K B Ganesh Kumar shared a reel on social media showing Mohanlal soaking in the pre-match atmosphere and recording the scenes on his mobile phone before kick-off.
Kansas City, widely regarded as the barbecue capital of the world, is famous for its signature brisket, particularly its sliced brisket with burnt ends. The city is also home to the Museum of BBQ, an interactive attraction that showcases the history, culture and regional styles of American barbecue—making it an ideal destination for Mohanlal, who is known to be both a food enthusiast and an accomplished cook.
The actor, who frequently visits the United States for film shoots and stage shows, had recently visited and endorsed the New York-based Kerala restaurant ‘Chatti by Regi Mathew.’ Praising the restaurant, Mohanlal described it as a “very bold step by bringing back Kerala to New York,” adding that the food was authentic and reminded him of home, his mother and grandmother. During the visit, Mohanlal and his wife Suchithra also cut a celebratory cake and signed the restaurant’s visitors’ book.
