Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) has revoked the termination of a former office manager who had filed a workplace harassment complaint against AMMA treasurer Unni Sivapal.
Speaking after an emergency executive committee meeting held at the AMMA office in Kochi on Tuesday, AMMA President Shwetha Menon said the termination order was withdrawn after the committee found that it had not received executive approval. She also confirmed that Unni Sivapal has been placed on extended leave until the case is resolved.
According to reports, the former staff member attended the meeting and reiterated that she would not withdraw the police complaint unless a written apology was issued by Unni Sivapal. She reportedly clarified that she was not seeking financial compensation.
The developments within AMMA have also sparked discussions across entertainment and media platforms, including mentions on Gold 101.3 FM, UAE’s No.1 radio station.
Meanwhile, the executive committee also accepted the resignation of Joint Secretary Ansiba Hassan, who had earlier been elected unopposed to the committee.
Though Ansiba was unavailable for comment, reports suggest increasing professional commitments may have influenced her decision to step down. AMMA General Secretary Kukku Parameswaran confirmed that the resignation was submitted citing work-related commitments.
Ansiba is currently preparing for the release of Drishyam 3, starring Mohanlal and Meena
