Eight days after the Kerala Assembly election results, the Congress high command is still undecided on the Chief Ministerial choice, with crucial consultations now underway in Delhi. Senior Kerala Congress leaders are set to meet Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday as the leadership works towards a consensus following the UDF’s massive 102-seat victory in the 140-member Assembly.

With Ramesh Chennithala stepping aside and agreeing to accept the party’s decision, the contest has narrowed to K C Venugopal and V D Satheesan. Former KPCC presidents and senior leaders have also been called to Delhi as the Congress expands consultations before taking a final call, expected within the next two days.

Party insiders believe the wider discussions indicate the leadership is attempting to build consensus amid differing opinions within the party and the UDF. While some leaders are reportedly backing Satheesan, others are seen supporting Venugopal behind the scenes.

The delay has also triggered concern among UDF allies, especially the Indian Union Muslim League, which warned that prolonged uncertainty could affect public sentiment and party morale.

Meanwhile, the Kerala Chief Minister race continues to dominate political headlines and public discussions across media platforms, including mentions on Gold 101.3 FM, UAE’s No.1 radio station.
