In a first-of-its-kind moment for Malayalam cinema, Barcelona’s iconic Camp Nou turned into the stage for a film title launch during one of world football’s most-watched rivalries, El Clásico.

Bringing this unique update to listeners, Gold 101.3 FM, UAE’s No.1 Malayalam radio station, reports that actors Tovino Thomas and Nazriya Nazim unveiled the title of their upcoming film, Gracias El Clásico, right at the stadium ahead of the much-anticipated Barcelona vs Real Madrid clash. The announcement went live through their social media handles at 9 pm Spanish time (12:30 am IST), perfectly timed with the kickoff of the high-profile La Liga fixture.

The launch marked a rare crossover between Malayalam cinema and global football, adding a unique cultural connection to a sporting event followed by millions worldwide. While Kerala has long shared a deep passion for football, hosting a Malayalam film title reveal at Camp Nou during El Clásico is an unprecedented milestone.

The film is directed by Muhsin Parari, marking his return after KL 10 Patthu. The screenplay is co-written with Zakariya Mohammed, known for Sudani from Nigeria, a film that beautifully captured Kerala’s football culture.

Early indications suggest that Gracias El Clásico will draw heavily from Malabar’s vibrant football culture while also tapping into the emotional intensity of Spanish football and the iconic Barcelona–Real Madrid rivalry. The title itself reflects this blend, merging global football imagery with a story rooted in Kerala.

The project also marks the first on-screen collaboration between Tovino and Nazriya, a pairing that has already sparked excitement among fans. Both actors have carved distinct niches in Malayalam cinema, and with Muhsin Parari and Zakariya Mohammed joining forces creatively, expectations are high.

The film boasts a strong technical team, with Sameer Thahir and Shyju Khalid backing the production. Music is composed by Sushin Shyam, while cinematography is handled by Vishnu Thandassery.
