A quick production turnaround and a prime festive release window have set the stage for Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, the latest directorial venture of Girish AD, with the makers confirming that the film has wrapped shooting and is on track for a theatrical release this Onam. Reporting from Gold 101.3 FM, UAE’s No. 1 Malayalam Radio, the announcement has generated strong interest, not just for its timing but also for the names associated with the project.
Headlined by Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, the film marks the first collaboration between the lead actors and the director. Known for his light-hearted, youth-oriented storytelling, Girish AD continues his creative partnership with Mamitha while bringing Nivin into his cinematic space for the first time. The project also reunites the director with writer Kiran Josey following their successful outing with Premalu, which earned both critical acclaim and commercial success.
Shot over a relatively short schedule after going on floors in January, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit reflects a tightly planned production. The film features a strong ensemble cast including Sangeeth Prathap, Bindu Panicker, Suresh Krishna, Vinay Forrt, Srinda, Roshan Shanavas, Shameer Khan and Shyam Mohan, indicating a narrative that leans on multiple characters rather than a single storyline.
Backing the project is Bhavana Studios, led by Dileesh Pothan, Fahadh Faasil and Syam Pushkaran. The banner has built a strong reputation for supporting distinctive Malayalam cinema, and its involvement—particularly after the success of Premalu—adds to expectations surrounding the film.
The release also comes at a busy phase for its lead actors. Mamitha Baiju, who was recently seen in Kara, has a packed lineup of projects across industries, while Nivin Pauly continues to explore a diverse slate of films, signaling a dynamic next phase in his career.
