Actor Zarin Shihab, known for her roles in Rekhachithram and Aattam, will be seen in Mahesh Narayanan’s upcoming film Patriot, set for release on May 1. She describes her role in the film as her most challenging so far, calling it a more mature performance that demanded consistency over a long shooting schedule.

According to information shared with Gold 101.3FM UAE’s No.1 radio station, Zarin said the extended schedule made continuity a key challenge, as opposed to her earlier films which wrapped within a few months. She added that working with the team was a rewarding experience that helped her grow as an actor.

On her co-stars, Zarin spoke highly of Mammootty, describing him as a “generous co-actor” who made her feel at ease on set. She said that although she initially felt intimidated, his supportive nature removed any pressure and allowed her to perform freely.

She also praised Nayanthara, calling her “incredibly observant” on set. Zarin noted that the actor remains deeply engaged with her surroundings even when not filming, saying this quality contributes to what makes Nayanthara a superstar.

Speaking about director Mahesh Narayanan, Zarin said she had long admired his work and was excited to join the project. She appreciated his attention to detail and his ability to clearly communicate with actors, ensuring a smooth creative process without overwhelming them.

Zarin also shared her acting philosophy, stating that she does not believe in the idea of a “perfect shot,” but instead focuses on learning and evolving with each take.

Reflecting on patriotism, she said her deeper understanding came through studying history, especially India’s colonial past. She emphasised the importance of learning from history, staying aware of power structures, and avoiding complacency as citizens
