The UAE has officially announced that distance learning will continue for schools and higher education institutions nationwide for two weeks following the end of the spring break. This move, announced by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, aims to ensure student safety while maintaining educational continuity.
Here is everything you need to know:
-
Schools & Nurseries: Distance learning applies to all students, teachers, and staff across all nurseries, kindergartens, and public and private schools for the first two weeks of the third term.
-
Universities: Higher education institutions will also remain online for two weeks, with individual universities deciding the best arrangements for their staff.
-
Weekly Reviews: Authorities will review the situation every week and provide updates through official channels.
-
Remote Work for Parents: Federal government employees who are caregivers for children (nursery through Grade 8) can now utilize flexible remote work arrangements, provided their job roles allow for it.
Initially, classes shifted online on March 2 before the spring break was brought forward to March 9. While the break ends soon, classes will now remain virtual for an additional 14 days rather than resuming in-person on March 23.
