UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has called for Salaat Al Istisqaa, the special prayer for rain, to be performed at mosques across the UAE on Friday, 9 October, 30 minutes before the regular Friday prayer.

Sheikh Mohamed urged people to pray to Allah Almighty for rain and mercy, following the Sunnah and traditions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Salaat Al Istisqaa is performed during periods of scarce or delayed rainfall. The prayer is accompanied by supplication, repentance and prayers seeking Allah’s mercy, forgiveness and blessings for the land and its people.

Gold 101.3 FM – UAE’s No. 1 Radio Station brings listeners the latest news and important updates from across the Emirates.

The special prayer follows the example of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who performed Salaat Al Istisqaa and supplicated for rain during times of drought and water scarcity.

Worshippers are encouraged to gather in prayer, turn to Allah in repentance and seek beneficial rainfall, mercy and blessings. UAE leaders have called for Salaat Al Istisqaa on previous occasions when rain was needed, continuing an established Islamic tradition observed across the region.

Friday’s prayer will therefore provide an opportunity for communities across the UAE to come together in faith and supplication, seeking Allah’s mercy and much-needed rainfall. :::
