Kerala continues to recover from the impact of heavy rains and rain-related disasters, with the official death toll rising to 15 on Monday, while seven people remain missing across the state.
Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan said the overall situation is now largely under control, though waterlogging in Pathanamthitta remains a concern as floodwaters are taking time to recede despite the rains easing.
Rescue operations have been intensified with fishing boats deployed in affected areas and two helicopters pressed into service. Police, Fire and Rescue Services personnel, along with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, continue relief and search operations.
According to the Chief Minister, 11,018 people have been moved to 316 relief camps across Kerala. Preliminary assessments show that around 164.98 hectares of agricultural land have been affected, impacting nearly 3,596 farmers.
The government has assured that water levels in major dams remain well below danger levels, urging people not to panic. Authorities have also taken steps to address sea incursion caused by rough weather conditions.

The state government has announced an immediate assistance of ₹10,000 for funeral expenses of those who lost their lives. Families returning from relief camps after floodwaters entered their homes will also receive ₹10,000 as immediate relief support.
The Chief Minister said families of disaster victims will receive a standard compensation of ₹8 lakh, including ₹4 lakh from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), ₹2 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF), and ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
For families who lost both land and homes and are unable to rebuild, the compensation amount has been increased from ₹10 lakh to ₹12 lakh. The assistance for purchasing land remains ₹6 lakh, while house construction support has been raised from ₹4 lakh to ₹6 lakh due to rising construction costs.
The government has also requested a proposal from the Agriculture Department to increase compensation for farmers affected by crop losses.
