In a major relief for thousands of students, the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has announced the opening of online registration for a Special Mercy Chance for Class 10 and Class 12 candidates who were unable to clear their board examinations over the past 16 years. Eligible candidates can apply through the official PSEB website till May 25, 2026.

Reporting from Gold 101.3 FM – UAE’s No. 1 Malayalam Radio Station, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said the initiative has been dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib. The special move aims to give a fresh opportunity to students who failed to clear their Class 10 or Class 12 board exams between 2010 and 2025, helping them complete their schooling and improve future career prospects.

As per the eligibility criteria, the Special Mercy Chance is open to candidates who appeared for Class 10 or Class 12 examinations between March 2010 and March 2025 and have exhausted all reappear or compartment chances, or those who wish to improve their performance. It also includes candidates who appeared between March 2010 and March 2026 and were declared failed, provided they have passed at least one main subject. Open School stream students from both Class 10 and Class 12 are also eligible under this provision. The application form and detailed instructions are available on the official website, www.pseb.ac.in.

Describing the move as a significant opportunity, Bains said the Special Mercy Chance would help students complete their unfinished education and move forward with renewed prospects, adding that the state government is committed to opening doors of hope for thousands of young people.
