It marks the end of an era in North Malabar as the region’s last surviving official Ambassador car makes its final journey to the Kozhikode Collectorate vehicle yard. After serving the Kozhikode Regional Information and Public Relations Department (PRD) for 15 years, the iconic white car has officially retired from active service.

The emotional farewell began when the Regional Transport Office (RTO) notified the District Officer that the vehicle’s fitness certificate and registration had expired. Driver Sarin Murali, who meticulously maintained the vintage car, gave it a final wash and polished its classic bodywork before taking it on one last drive across the Collectorate premises.

Recognising the historic significance of the moment, PRD staff, led by official photographer KV Sreejesh, captured the car’s final journey on video. The farewell footage has since attracted considerable attention on social media, evoking nostalgia among locals and vintage car enthusiasts.

Despite its retirement, the pristine Ambassador remains a symbol of timeless elegance. Kozhikode PRD Officer K. Muhammad recalled how the car regularly drew crowds during official trips across the district, with passersby eager to take selfies with the legendary vehicle.

He also revealed that several vintage car enthusiasts had expressed interest in purchasing the well-maintained Ambassador, offering amounts running into lakhs of rupees.

With its final drive complete, the iconic white Ambassador bows out after 15 years of service, leaving behind cherished memories and marking the end of a distinctive chapter in government administration in North Malabar.
