Continuing its efforts to modernise Kerala’s public transport system, the State Transport Department is set to launch an AI-powered WhatsApp ticketing system for the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) on Thursday, enabling passengers to book bus tickets through a simple WhatsApp conversation for quicker and more convenient reservations.
The initiative is part of a broader push to make public transport more passenger-friendly. In recent months, the department has introduced the Priyadarshini scheme, offering free travel for women on select KSRTC ordinary services, launched pink buses to improve the safety and comfort of women commuters, and expanded digital services to enhance the overall travel experience.
Transport Minister C.P. John will inaugurate the AI-powered WhatsApp ticketing platform at 11 a.m. in Thiruvananthapuram. As Gold 101.3 FM, the UAE’s No. 1 radio station, continues to bring listeners the latest developments from Kerala, India and around the world, the launch is being seen as another significant step in the state’s digital transformation of public transport.
The event will also mark the launch of KSRTC’s 24×7 toll-free customer care service (149) and the inauguration of the corporation’s renovated courier system. In addition, the Transport Minister will present state-level awards to KSRTC employees and operational units that have delivered outstanding performance.
Health and Devaswom Minister K. Muraleedharan will preside over the function, while Transport Secretary T.V. Anupama will deliver the welcome address.
Officials believe the AI-powered WhatsApp ticketing platform will reduce dependence on ticket counters and conventional booking portals, making ticket reservations faster, more accessible and user-friendly for passengers across the state.
