Kerala Cricket League (KCL) Season 3 is set to shine the spotlight on the state’s next generation of cricketing talent, with five teenage players expected to be among the tournament’s biggest attractions. Leading the list are India Under-19 representatives Mohammed Inan and Manav Krishna, who will be looking to translate their success on the junior international stage into strong performances in Kerala’s premier franchise competition.
Four of the five teenagers will represent the Thrissur Titans this season—Manav Krishna, Mohammed Inan, K.R. Rohith and Amay Manoj—while all-rounder Jobin Joby will turn out for the Kochi Blue Tigers for the third consecutive season. The third edition of the KCL gets underway on August 20.
Eighteen-year-old K.R. Rohith is the youngest player in this year’s tournament. The Tripunithura native made his Kerala Under-19 debut at just 16 and returns to the Thrissur Titans after featuring for the franchise last season. The remaining four youngsters are all 19 years old.
Manav Krishna, who captained Kerala’s Under-19 team last season, earned a call-up to the India Under-19 squad and announced himself with a century on debut during the tour of Sri Lanka. The wicketkeeper-batter has since gone on to make his senior debut for Kerala in the Ranji Trophy. Mohammed Inan, who represented India at the ICC Under-19 World Cup, sharpened his skills under legendary former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq in Dubai before returning to Kerala. He has also featured for India Under-19 in bilateral series against Australia and England.
Another promising youngster, Amay Manoj, impressed during Kerala’s Under-19 campaign last season with several match-winning performances, including a century against Punjab. His consistent displays earned him a place at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Under-19 camp.
Completing the list is all-rounder Jobin Joby, who enjoyed a memorable Cooch Behar Trophy campaign by scoring a century and claiming five wickets against Hyderabad. As KCL Season 3 begins, these emerging stars will be aiming to use the tournament as a launchpad for bigger opportunities in domestic and national cricket.
