Gold 101.3 FM’s Morning Show hosts Vysakh and Samira were among the first passengers to travel on Etihad Rail’s inaugural passenger service, journeying from Fujairah to Abu Dhabi on Tuesday as part of a landmark moment in UAE transport history.

The launch marks the beginning of Etihad Rail’s long-awaited passenger operations, introducing a faster, smarter, and more sustainable travel option across the UAE. During this introductory phase, the service connects Fujairah Station  and Abu Dhabi Station (Mohamed Bin Zayed City), reducing travel time between the two emirates to just 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Vysakh and Samira covered the journey live for Gold FM listeners, sharing exclusive updates, on-board experiences, and special moments from the train. Their coverage offered listeners a first-hand glimpse into one of the UAE’s biggest infrastructure milestones.

The current route is only the beginning. Etihad Rail has announced a phased expansion of its passenger network across the country. Dubai’s Jumeirah Golf Estates Station and Al Dhaid Station in Sharjah are scheduled to open later this year, followed by additional stations in Al Dhafra and Sharjah University City. Eventually, the network will connect 11 cities and regions across all seven emirates, transforming inter-emirate travel in the UAE.

Ticket prices for the inaugural Abu Dhabi–Fujairah route currently start at AED 55 for Comfort Class and AED 120 for Premium Class as part of the introductory promotional offer, making the service accessible to a wide range of passengers.

To ensure seamless connectivity beyond the stations, shuttle bus services and integrated transport options have also been introduced, allowing passengers to easily travel between train stations and key city locations. This multimodal transport system is expected to make rail travel even more convenient for both residents and tourists.

The train offers a premium passenger experience, featuring modern seating, spacious cabins, luggage storage, digital ticketing, and world-class onboard facilities. Each train can accommodate up to 400 passengers and operates at speeds of up to 200 km/h.

Speaking during the journey, the Gold FM team described the experience as both emotional and historic.

For Vysakh and Samira, this was more than just a train ride — it was an opportunity to witness the future of transportation in the UAE.

Gold 101.3 FM-UAE’s No 1 radio station  is proud to have brought this historic moment closer to its listeners through exclusive live coverage, reinforcing the station’s commitment to delivering major UAE stories as they happen.
