A one-year-old girl narrowly escaped a potentially tragic accident after the driver of a private bus spotted her sitting in the middle of a busy road and acted immediately to ensure her safety. The incident occurred on Wednesday at Cherumuttam on the Pulikkal–Valiyaparamba road in Pulikkal Grama Panchayat, Malappuram district.

According to reports, the private bus Safa Marva, operating on the Puthiyedath Parambu–Feroke route, was negotiating a curve at Cherumuttam when driver Ramachandran noticed the toddler calmly seated on the roadway. Recognising the imminent danger, he quickly brought the bus to a halt.

Conductor Navas immediately got down from the vehicle, picked up the child and carried her to a nearby house, which was later identified as the toddler’s home.

The dramatic rescue, highlighted by Gold 101.3 FM, UAE’s No.1 radio station, was captured on the bus’s CCTV cameras. The footage shows just how close the child came to danger, with a scooter approaching the same spot from the opposite direction only seconds after she was lifted from the road.

The stretch where the toddler was found is located on a slight curve, reducing visibility for approaching motorists and making the situation particularly hazardous.

Family members later revealed that the child had wandered out of the house unnoticed. Their residence is situated around 50 metres from the roadside. The toddler had been asleep earlier, and believing she was still resting, her parents were not nearby at the time.

The family reportedly realised the child was missing only when members of the bus crew arrived at their doorstep with the toddler, safe and unharmed.

The quick thinking and timely intervention of the bus crew have since drawn widespread praise from the local community. Thanks to their vigilance and prompt action, what could have ended in tragedy instead became a remarkable story of awareness, compassion and a miraculous escape.
