The UAE is expected to witness generally fair but dusty weather conditions throughout the week, with cooler temperatures forecast at the beginning of the week as strong north-westerly winds continue to sweep across the country, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The NCM stated that the current weather pattern is being influenced by the extension of a weak surface low-pressure system from the east, combined with a high-pressure system extending from the west and an upper-air high-pressure ridge. These conditions are expected to create unstable wind activity in several parts of the country.
On Monday, residents can expect another noticeable dip in temperatures along with dusty skies and reduced visibility in some exposed areas. Light to moderate north-westerly winds are likely to freshen at intervals, causing blowing dust and sand across parts of the UAE. Wind speeds are expected to range between 10 km/h and 25 km/h, occasionally strengthening to nearly 40 km/h.
The NCM has also warned of rough sea conditions, particularly in the Arabian Gulf, where waters are forecast to remain rough to moderate during the day. In the Oman Sea, conditions are expected to remain slight to moderate initially before becoming rough by evening.
Weather conditions are likely to improve slightly from Tuesday onwards, with fair skies expected across most parts of the country and a gradual increase in temperatures. However, winds will continue to remain active at times. South-westerly to north-westerly winds are forecast to blow at light to moderate speeds, occasionally reaching up to 40 km/h.
Sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf are expected to remain moderate, becoming rough at times, especially in northern areas. Similar intermittent rough conditions are also expected in the Oman Sea.
According to the NCM, fair weather is expected to continue through Wednesday and Thursday, although active winds may continue to raise dust in several inland and open regions. Residents, particularly motorists, have been advised to remain cautious during periods of reduced visibility caused by blowing dust.
Amid the changing weather conditions across the Emirates, Gold 101.3FM UAE’s No.1 radio station continues to keep listeners updated with the latest weather alerts, traffic updates and public advisories throughout the week.
Sea conditions during the second half of the week are expected to fluctuate between slight, moderate and rough in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea, depending on wind intensity.
By Friday, weather conditions are expected to remain generally fair across the UAE. However, north-westerly winds are likely to freshen once again during the afternoon, with rough sea conditions forecast to develop in the Arabian Gulf later in the day.
Authorities continue to advise residents, especially those planning marine activities, to monitor official weather updates and exercise caution during periods of strong winds and rough seas.
