At CES 2026, LG Electronics has captured the spotlight with the debut of LG CLOiD, a sophisticated humanoid home assistant designed to eliminate the drudgery of daily chores. Unlike traditional single-purpose robots, CLOiD features two highly articulated arms with seven degrees of freedom and five-fingered hands, allowing it to perform complex, delicate tasks like folding laundry, unloading dishwashers, and even prepping breakfast. Powered by LG’s “Physical AI,” the robot utilizes Vision Language Models (VLM) to understand its surroundings and translate vocal or visual cues into precise physical actions, moving seamlessly between the kitchen, laundry room, and living areas on a stable, wheeled base.
Beyond its physical capabilities, CLOiD serves as a mobile command center for the LG ThinQ smart home ecosystem. It functions with “Affectionate Intelligence,” learning a family’s specific routines and lifestyle patterns to anticipate needs—such as preheating the oven or initiating a wash cycle—without needing constant user input. While LG showcased the robot in various “real-world” scenarios at their booth, it currently remains a commercial concept and prototype. No official price or release date has been set, but the technology represents a major leap toward LG’s vision of a future where intelligent machines manage the home, giving residents back their most valuable resource: time.
