Kamala Das, the legendary poet, who crafted a new definition of feminism through her work has been honored by Google with a doodle on Thursday.
She was known by the name Madhavikutty and Kamala Surayya after she converted to Islam.
The writer was born in Thrissur district of Kerala in 1934 and rocked the world of Malayalam literature as a female writer by breaking all the taboo.
The doodle was created by artist Manjit Thapp, celebrating the work which made a difference in the world of an engrossing woman.
By Feb 1, 1976, Kamala Das released her autobiography ‘My Story’. Written in English but translated it to Malayalam. The book was about her life’s journey from childhood to her personal relationships. Which was criticised by the readers across the country.
